IC Information

CHARACTER NAME: Clint Barton
AGE: 30
CANON: Avengers Assemble
CANON POINT: Episode 08 “Molecule Kid” (This is the most recent episode)
FAMILY TYPES:
Nature Spirit: Out of all the other Avengers on the team, Clint is easily the most normal and everyday of them all, who is most likely to be on the couch watching movies with popcorn when not saving New York or making wise comments. He is also the most reserved guy of the group.

Wind Guardians: His codename is Hawkeye, and he is generally found sitting up high where he can see everything that’s going on so he can get a good eye on targets. While with Natasha he seems to have a need to compete with her, as if he wants to prove to her he’s still as good as he used to be when they were teamed up together with SHIELD.

Virus Busters: Clint might occasionally do questionable things, but he is always doing the right and good thing. No matter what version of him, Comic, Movie, animation. Clint always makes the call that brings out the good, or shows up to be the good choice.

APPEARANCE: Clint is about 5’9”, very athletic and has well-maintained blonde hair. He sports a casual smirk, stands casually, and tends to wear clothing with purple accenting. When carrying his bow, he stands more confidently and even a simple look will tell you he knows how to use it, and knows all the best place to stick his arrows. He is Very rarely will he be seen without a pair of purple-tinted sunglasses.

PERSONALITY: Looking at Clint, you can easily tell that he is cocky and very sure of himself. Both aspects come from his confidence with the bow, as well as his athletic ability to get himself out of harm, mostly. These features, with his impulsive behaviour and arrogance, help him to fit into the Avengers well enough. Other members (specifically Tony and Thor) are similarly minded and as such, it would be easy for Clint to fade into the background compared to them. Unlike Tony, with his genius for mechanics, engineering, and robotics, or Thor, who is very much the god whose name he shares, his quick reactions, sharp observational skills and a mouth smarter than Tony on his best day, Clint easily asserts himself within the group.

His skill with a bow is second to none, and no one would even dream of claiming his aim and ability to anticipate the perfect trajectory are anything less than spectacular. (One interesting example was shown in Molecule Kid, when Clint was playing a carnival game, throwing a ball at a strange angle, to bounce off several things to hit his target dead centre). Even his biggest critic and best friend Natasha will quickly remind people why she picks him to work with. It’s also quite easy to say that away from the team, Clint is the most personable, treating everyone the same no matter who they are. No one is safe from a cheeky comment about something they've done, his sarcasm is also used in place of being intentionally cruel, or angry over something.

As skilled and friendly as Clint is, there are times when his need to be sarcastic has caused friction within the team, which leads to others snapping at him, causing things to happen that wouldn't have if he had just stayed quiet for a few moments. Not only that, but his being just a ‘mere but highly talented human’ does lead him to usually be first when it comes to body snatchers, brainwashing, and physics. This is of course something that frustrates him, partly because it points out his limitations on a team of super humans, and also because people don't always readily notice that he’s been taken over, as his usual antics make the team occasionally dismiss his change in behaviour as moodiness over something.

When on a mission, Clint is focused and professional. He does however show a certain dislike for having to work with anyone he considers out of their league or feels like all they’ll do is get in the way. This is shown when he cameos in Ultimate Spider-man, where he is rather curt with Spider-man and isn’t all that in the mood to joke around with him, as he keeps having to pull him out of danger on more than one occasion. When working with the Avengers, his professional manner is still there, though he is more likely to make comments on what the others are doing, especially against Hulk or Iron Man, which is harmless and more to help keep his and their heads in the game. He is also the one most likely to try and get between Hulk and Thor when they start to challenge their strength against each other on more than one occasion.

Clint also seems (So far within the current episodes) unlikely to express any anger. When most of the team are exposed to nanobots that cause them to be highly aggressive. While the others make some harsh comments to each other, Clint is the only one who makes comments like “I hate you more” and “Caps shield make his head look small”, proving that even when provoked into high aggression he is going to resort to childish comments over actually hurting someone’s feelings. Which could suggest that Clint had a strange child hood, that while it lead him to be an accomplished archer and SHEILD agent, he didn’t emotionally grow up in the same way as normal people have.

His potential history also gets pointed to that things can frustrate him quickly. Especially when he is not listened to, especially when it turns out that he’s right. Which more often than not leads him to take things into his own hands. His room within the Stark Tower is also a woeful place to be, with food, paper, and clothes lying everywhere. It looks more like the after effects of a robbery or hurricane, than it does a liveable habitat. That being said, he seems to know where everything is to some extent, and is more than content to live in it.

When it comes to the other Avengers, Clint’s interactions with them shows how close he is with them; With Sam new to the team, he has a casual friendship with Clint, Sam still isn’t too sure how to handle him. Like being baffled that all Clint does is play target games, instead of trying out more exciting things like roller coasters or tilt whirls while on their day off at a carnival.

Clint and Thor interact more like normal roommates would, offhand comments, and small talk. He doesn’t seem to have much of an opinion of him so far. When it comes to Steve, it’s pretty basic, Captain America is second in command, and treated as such. When the captain tells him to jump, he does. Out of all the other Avengers, Captain America is the only one who doesn’t get any of Clint’s smart comments. Hulk is easily in buddy territory, he ends up getting a lot of jokes directed at him, as well as Clint stealing his peanut butter. He also tends to rely on him to certain degrees in fighting, using his immense strength to his benefit.

Then there’s Tony, there almost seems to be the beginnings of an almost brotherly relationship between them, where they will scold each other for their actions, as seen in the two-part first episode where they each keep making small comments at each other over their actions, but neither seem to be even remotely put out by it. They just seem to be completely comfortable with each other. There is also a heavy dose of respect going both ways, shown again in Molecule Kid where Clint constantly points out that Tony really should be brought into the mission.

Natasha is a person he gets along with most of all, something which is a Marvel Universe constant. They talk to each other in a way that suggests they have been through a great deal together long before the series started. They nit-pick each other, lazily flirt, and almost seem to know what the other is thinking. Unless they are feeling the need to take charge of the situation, where they actually end up bickering like an old married couple, telling the other what to do and then not listening to one another, but still work off each other during the fight.

SAMPLES

FIRST PERSON:

Okay, so let me get this straight. I’ve managed to find myself in, what? Tony’s dreamscape when he was 8 years old, because that’s… That’s what I’m seeing right here.

I mean sure, I’m all for abstract… Food, but even this is a little weird for me. And I’ve helped send a monster snake into the Asgardian underworld, and sunk up to my waist into some honey-like substance that used to be a New York alley way. But I mean come on, I actually have to work for a rejected care-bear concept? Sure, okay, technically I work with the Hulk, but that’s more he doesn’t have the creepy cute vibe this thing has.

Wait, no. Actually I change my mind. I’ve been kidnapped again, and all these little things are going to take over New York, or Wyoming maybe. Because the idea of being actually stuck here with living breathing plush toys isn’t really how I was thinking of spending my mental health leave.

THIRD PERSON:

When Clint is brought into the world, he was in the middle of trying to break up an AIM attempt to steal from one of Stark’s Buildings. And by “middle of trying to break up” we mean, he was leaping off a light post aiming at one of the boys in yellow. So needless to say when he crash-lands in what is no longer New York, his immediate reaction is to roll away from where he was and aim his bow directly at the flash of white that comes towards him.

Once he has his target set he pauses, and tilts his head causing his glasses to slip down his nose a little. He just stares unblinkingly at Culumon.

“Uh, so AIM’s taking is on with carnival toys? Is that seriously what’s happening right now?”

He glances around.

“Tony, are you seeing this?”

When there’s no response, he frowns. Putting his finger to his ear to make sure the ear piece is still in there he calls out for other members of the team before looking back at Culumon.

“Yeah, you’re going to be cluing me in right now, or all your stuffing is going to end up places you really rather they wouldn’t be.”

He tries to sound confident, but it comes of more than a little confused and just a touch nervous. It’s not like he can’t take on an overly enthusiastic dust bunny, it’s just that. Well he can’t hear his team. Which means two things; either they’re in trouble, and considering his team mates, not all that much of an imagination stretch. Or he was in trouble. More likely, considering who he is. He really hopes it’s not Tony or Natasha that comes to save his butt right now. Clint isn’t overly sure he could live down being rescued from furbies.
